What's the idea behind Whiz-bang Projects?

My name is Dug North. I want to share my passions for making things with others. As a long-time fan of old books and periodicals, it seemed to me like there were countless historical projects that would be fun to make. Sadly, many of these sources don't really have all the detail that many people would need or expect of good DIY project.

At the same time, there are other people who do have the skill and desire to figure out these old projects for themselves. How do I help these different groups? This is what led me to start Whiz-bang Projects. The idea is to offer projects to people with different levels of detail and instruction in PDF form.

Original Vintage Projects

At the most basic level, the Original Vintage Projects are vintage projects with no little additional information. To add value, I have compiled related articles from two or more sources. I've also added a list of resources with links at the back of each title. And

Enhanced Vintage Projects

These projects feature additional helpful information to help the aspiring maker along. I'll translate old tools and materials into modern equivalents. I'll also provide larger, improved patterns and/or diagrams. These, too, will have a list of additional resources.

Premium Vintage Projects

Building on the Enhanced Projects, the Premium offering will include step-by-step instructions and photographs of key fabrication steps.

At the time of this writing, only Original Vintage Projects are available. As I build and document these projects myself, I will start adding offerings at the Enhanced and Premium levels. Check back to this blog to see updates on projects-in-progress.

If you have a project you would like to see here, drop me a line using the contact form.

Happy making!
